Suze Youance\u2019s journey<\/strong> is a vibrant example of ambition and community engagement. Recently appointed as an independent senator for the province of Quebec<\/strong> by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau<\/strong>, this Canadian of Haitian origin<\/strong> embodies the story of a woman who, through hard work and a passion for public service, has broken barriers to become an influential figure on the Canadian political stage.<\/p>\n

A graduate in civil engineering<\/strong> from the State University of Haiti<\/strong>, Suze Youance left her homeland in 2006<\/strong> to settle in Canada<\/strong>. Since then, she has continuously expanded her professional path, refining her skills in engineering while also contributing to higher education<\/strong>. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of engineering, she received the Casimir Gzowski Gold Medal<\/strong> from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering<\/strong>, a prestigious honor. In addition, her social commitment earned her the Mathieu Da Costa Award<\/strong> from the Quebec Black League<\/strong>, highlighting the significant impact of her work within the community.<\/p>\n

But beyond her professional achievements, it is Suze Youance\u2019s dedication to the Haitian community<\/strong> and her social commitments that truly set her apart. As President of the Haitian community of Montreal<\/strong>, she is much more than a successful engineer: she is a bridge-builder between cultures<\/strong>, a defender of immigrant rights<\/strong>, and an inspiring role model<\/strong> for younger generations. Her involvement in several local organizations reflects her desire to strengthen ties between communities and to contribute to a more inclusive Canada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Recommended by the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments<\/strong>, Ms. Youance joins the 87 other independent senators<\/strong> appointed under Prime Minister Trudeau\u2019s leadership<\/strong>. The Prime Minister stated that \u201cher experience will make her a strong voice for Quebec and for Canadians across the country,\u201d<\/em> emphasizing the value of her journey and expertise.<\/p>\n

Her appointment to the Senate is a recognition of an exceptional path<\/strong> and a long-standing commitment to public service.
