In a series of videos published on May 5, 2025, Olympique Lyonnais announced the contract extension of Melchie Dumornay. The Haitian star is now tied to OL until 2029.
Having joined the club in summer 2023 from Stade de Reims, Melchie Daëlle Dumornay has delivered two outstanding seasons in the Lyon jersey — enough to win over the entire club and trigger her contract renewal, officially confirmed on May 5. The management of the current Arkema Première Ligue titleholders thus reaffirmed their trust in the Grenadières’ star.
Far surpassing her first season, Corventina has impressed in the French top division. She has scored 15 goals in 16 matches, with only Clara Mateo (Paris FC) posting better stats. The Mirebalais native also ranks among the top assist providers in the league.
Despite a surprise Champions League semifinal exit against Arsenal — which may affect her Ballon d’Or chances — Melchie shone, scoring in both the first and second legs. In total, she has 6 goals in 9 Champions League matches, earning Player of the Match honors twice.
Now at just 21 years old, Dumornay, who can play both in midfield and attack, has become one of the key players in Lyon’s squad. “My contract extension with OL shows how much I love this club,” she said. In 45 appearances for Lyon, Melchie has already netted 30 goals.
With this extension, she could become the centerpiece of the Lyon project, especially with several veteran players expected to leave at season’s end. Club president Michelle Kang has openly expressed admiration for the Grenadière. A bright future seems to lie ahead for Corventina in Lyon colors.
